If I can butt in, Colin's Doctor was sandbagged. Saward didn't like him, the new episode format made things awkward and the budget was more than usually hideous. Throw in a lackluster companion (I like Nicola but she is probably my least favorite character in Classic Who) and a producer who, let's fact it, desperately wanted to move on from DW and self-sabotaged himself in numerous ways...

So, all this stuff about, "Are fans hypocritical?" or "Did Sixie get a fair shake?" is missing the point. I think fans are unjustly singled out (in this one instance).

If the show wanted us to like Colin, we'd have liked him. The show set out to make him unlikable and, worse, impotent in a few stories, so people reacted accordingly.

There are many things to like about Six. Revelation of the Daleks is his best story because he is self-righteous without being hypocritical. But that's a rarity; most of his lines don't make much sense to me. He comes off like a creepy weirdo playing at being a good guy, rather than the reverse. And a lot of that was intentional on the part of the scriptwriters.alihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18287658017103606748noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5386390949828958591.post-35900786150259016082016-01-05T12:15:30.373-08:002016-01-05T12:15:30.373-08:00Some time ago I saw a very interesting discussion ...Some time ago I saw a very interesting discussion on internet about the Doctors. Somebody said that the Sixth Doctor has been always on the receiving end from the fandom who always brings back that scene of him strangling Peri (caused by post traumatic regeneration crisis) whereas the Tenth Doctor treating Martha with contempt and superiority during their entire time together in the TARDIS barely bats an eyelid. It's the same with the supposed Six arrogance and big ego, I mean, have you seen the size of Ten's ego and his arrogance??("There's no authority higher than me", Time Lord , bringing down Harriet down and thus helping to provoke all the Master's mayhem, having a massive paddy when he was forced to save Wilf). I know this has nothing to do with the review but I wanted to share this little rant as a fellow Sixie fan. I found interesting all these points brought up in a discussion. I'm not a Ten hater but I find some sectors of fandom just plain unfair when they have a go at Six for some stuff and they all go gooey eyed at Ten when the later has done worse things than the former (The family of Blood fates, devised by him, is far worse than anything Six did (like watching , not pushing, some goon fell into an acid pool)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
