Exciting! This sounds like a really great story too.

I listened to some Big Finish years ago but I stopped. I've just started to re-discover them thanks to your blog and I'm getting more excited with each review. :)Derek Handleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16381897775673629320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5386390949828958591.post-43553557118075453372016-03-18T10:27:44.619-07:002016-03-18T10:27:44.619-07:00Jonathan Morris writes wonders about time travel, ...Jonathan Morris writes wonders about time travel, when is Big Finish commissioning him to write for the bloody Time War??? Still so many times I've heard trailers that were either more awesome sounding than a very mediocre story or visa versa (the one for White ghosts was particularly dreadful and that turned out to be one of my favourite of the 4Da range).

Personally I Loved! this one, I heard it yesterday and being my dad's in surgery today and I couldn't sleep yesterday night, devoured it in one sitting. Timy wimy, twisty turny, with not a moment wasted and everyone on top form.

i particularly like the way that pretty much most of the people we meet on this planet seem various shades of scummy, even the cult who initially seem to be the good resistance are quite happy to hand out death sentences, while the future's so called dictator is trying to rebuild the planet and the conservation warden in the past is trying to save one.
I'll also say this one felt surprisingly dark, especially sinse my main cryticism of far too many fourth doctor scripts has been that sense of safety. maybe it was just that the destroyed environment, the dark bunker and a society who chain visiting time travellers to bombs are so unpleasant, or maybe it was hat so many scenes that could've been spun out were just done with abrupt and brutal efficiency, like the scene when the warden persuades Romana to help him with time travel by threatening the future with a bomb, (his calm "arm the bomb" was wonderfully nasty).

I can't wait for next month's. I do hope the twist is a little more complex than just "oh look the future society buggered up their own past with all this warring", and given what we've been told of nobody who tried travelling further into the future making it that seems possible, but even if the destination is indeed the expected one it's been a great journey getting there.

Really nice to know this range still has something going for it and I can look forward to a Tom story.darkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15526681809763999806noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5386390949828958591.post-76454701900010478752016-03-17T20:17:20.044-07:002016-03-17T20:17:20.044-07:00This may sound like a silly question, Joe, but mig...This may sound like a silly question, Joe, but might I enjoy this release even if I didn't enjoy its trailer? The impression I got from the trailer was of a graceless, humorless, technobable-laden story, something I didn't get from your review. Not to mention that it's been getting very positive reactions.

Thanks for your patience!
Urlance Woolsbanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03746926139760764697noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5386390949828958591.post-35927463038875343762016-03-17T20:02:31.033-07:002016-03-17T20:02:31.033-07:00That is pretty cunty of Tom, I gotta admit. That is pretty cunty of Tom, I gotta admit.Ed azadnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5386390949828958591.post-46114732785038967272016-03-17T04:45:37.081-07:002016-03-17T04:45:37.081-07:00Jon Morris never fails to deliver. It's interesting to hear Tom Baker having so much fun in these audios when he spent years and years saying no to them and mocking the scripts Gary Russell sent him in conventions.
I'm sure he is now kicking himself at his own pig-headness since he will never have the opportunity to do audios with Lis Sladen, if he had joined Big Finish when the other Doctors did, he would have done a bunch of them audios with Lis and Nick Courtney and more with Mary TammAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
