Having listened to it, I can't say I hated it quite as much as you did, but I wouldn't call it a good story by any means.

Probably my favorite aspect of this story is that it doesn't try to explain the role of Aboriginal mythology in it away, apart from some hand-wavy lines about the Dreamtime constituting a third helix in the DNA of indigenous Australians. However, the dialogue is so stilted and full of New Age mumbo jumbo that it doesn't leave the listener much more informed about what is actually a fascinating subject, nor is it particularly entertaining to listen to. Thank god for Hex, or there'd have been nothing to hang my attention on.David Pirtlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00636601389899125100noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5386390949828958591.post-69885933869568264482015-07-03T20:20:58.966-07:002015-07-03T20:20:58.966-07:00So I LOVE Big Finish. And before Dreamtime, there have been favorite stories ... and ones that are not-so-favorite (Minuet In Hell and Nekromanteia come to mind), but there's been something I've enjoyed in every single story ... until now.

I mean, the reason I stumbled across your review in the first place is because, there I was, listening to Dreamtime, completely scratching my head, when I realized I just had to stop and see if anyone could explain what the heck was going on to me.

As far as I can tell, this story involves the Doctor and crew happening upon a stone city atop an asteroid, beneath a see through dome. Simultaneously, an alien salvage crew happens upon the same asteroid. Oh. And apparently, there are people here or something and the army is trying to evacuate them, even though they really don't want to go. At some point, the doctor is turned to stone.

And that is it. Yep. That basically covers episode one and I had/have ZERO idea what happens after that. It feels as if, since then, I've listened to someone reading like 40 minutes of fortune cookie notes.

Long story short, thanks for this review. You - apparently - feel exactly as I do. Shwoo. Misery loves company, so now I feel just a bit better.

Yep. Worst Big Finish story by far! 1 out of 10 indeed!!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17250424543052191839noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5386390949828958591.post-57473165060628883452014-01-12T18:44:40.094-08:002014-01-12T18:44:40.094-08:00Wow that line about the Rolling Stones is baaaaad....Wow that line about the Rolling Stones is baaaaad...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DreamtimeAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
