The Mire Beast look better in DW Magazine pics from 1979 though...Man in a duvet is a great description. Loved the coughing cliffhanger.
I love these character episodes which set the scene, Nation always does it really well, even with Destiny. Episode 3 was not enjoyable, Hartnell the saving grace as ever, I love his thoughtful poses with his hands clasped, really nailing HIS Doctor, his show..
Ep 4 wasn't that bad, great believable sets, a bit of black and white Brain of Morbius? The last 2 episodes are quite good, the doppelganger wasn't good even for the time. I am watching these in order, I can't help feeling they are taking the kids out of the Daleks a bit when they have been what made it so popular, looking forward to their next story to revive a bit of menace. The final battle was great apart from the fact flashes. Steven going back for the teddy either reflected his mental state or was a cheap way of dividing the group so that he could stow away. The latter I think..
Watching these in order makes the ends of this story all the harder to watch. Ian and Barbara were magnificent companions and highly underrated. Anyone studying the ship's history must watch these in order to fully gain the enormity of their leaving and how the Doctor reacts. Lovely scenes at the end.
Better than Space Museum, below Web Planet, 5th before we watch the final story...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5386390949828958591.post-91161004412774853132013-04-17T11:38:32.255-07:002013-04-17T11:38:32.255-07:00What I like about The Chase is that is quite well-...What I like about The Chase is that is quite well-paced and you have a new location in every episode.
