The very first time another Doctor surpassed Tom Baker, for the top spot. This is because even now, the vast majority of fans credit Tom Baker as the best Doctor in history. Really, if you look at recent fan favourites like David Tennant and Matt Smith - both of them have built their characters around the wacky comedic stylisation established by Tom Baker.

My other absolute favourite is the 3rd Doctor, John Pertwee. A Doctor at the real heyday of BBC Doctor Who, when they still invested heavily in the show. If you watch his tenure, you won’t be disappointed.

I also believe it’s the basis for the fantastic performances of the 12th Doctor. Peter Capaldi is by far, the best Doctor in New Who. His performances have been consistently outstanding and reflect the quality and history of the Doctor most accurately. His character arc was tremendously well done.

I think it’s terribly unfair he’s paying the price for BBC Managements poor scheduling of the show and thus destroying its previously strong family viewing viewership. Families with kids do everything by routine. It’s not ok to schedule the show at 7pm one week and 8pm the next. For one thing 8pm is far too late for young kids and it’s no wonder they lost 1-2 million viewers. I will sadly miss Peter and I only hope he graciously agrees to continue playing the Doctor with BigFinish in the future. Though I’m certain our new Time Lady will be incredibly good. And about time I say! I'm enjoying it so far (just finished part one) and your review is spot-on. I feel a bit guilty saying this, but the new "Doctor" here is much more enjoyable than the real one. I hope McCOy steps up his game if he's going to end up facing off against McQueen.David Pirtlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00636601389899125100noreply@blogger.com
