O...Just finished listening to this excellent story. One of its peculiar strengths is how it toys with your expectations. Who's responsible for this? Is ANYONE responsible? Will the War Chief suddenly show up, or is this all just the work of a particularly gifted (and twisted) contemporary soldier who has been reading a lot of Freud and Jung? Remarkably subtle and creepy stuff.Hy Falutinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01312016049561436608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5386390949828958591.post-13657171566624784932013-08-27T20:28:36.526-07:002013-08-27T20:28:36.526-07:00No, you're right and I was rather getting twen...No, you're right and I was rather getting twenty years ahead of myself! I have amended the review and thank you for pointing it out (and thanks for your kind words about the review in general)

J xDoc Ohohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01819922630249965949noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5386390949828958591.post-81459451072438321492013-08-27T04:31:45.811-07:002013-08-27T04:31:45.811-07:00Another excellent review, this is a story I've...Another excellent review, this is a story I've been meaning to listen to for a long time now. I really must get round to it.

One thing i'd like to bring up though, yon mention that "Lieutenant-Colonel likes to remind the men of who the enemy are to keep them focussed, listening to phonographic recordings of Nazi’s". Unless there's some time travel stuff going on then they couldn't have been listening to recordings of Nazis as there was no such thing as Nazis during WW1. The Nazis didn't get into power in Germany until 1933. Like I said I haven't heard this story yet though, so if it's explained in story then I apologise.

Keep up the great work.Timothy Allanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03099764002315263925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5386390949828958591.post-90009718427067916792011-04-03T02:20:16.729-07:002011-04-03T02:20:16.729-07:00Yes, Cochrane was very good - very scary but not i...Yes, Cochrane was very good - very scary but not in a shouty way, more like making you feel totally helpless.

I do not know how most of the actors look so I try to picture them and with the WWI reference Smythe immediately came to mind.juliaL49http://49suns.denoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5386390949828958591.post-73944667442067201492011-04-02T13:22:11.959-07:002011-04-02T13:22:11.959-07:00Firstly thank you for your veyry kind words - that...Firstly thank you for your veyry kind words - that might be the best compliment I have ever had! Definately a feeling of Smytheness, you're right! I didn't realise when I was listening! Cochrane was very good, wasn't he?Doc Ohohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01819922630249965949noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5386390949828958591.post-8916935637837297032011-04-02T13:00:33.976-07:002011-04-02T13:00:33.976-07:00I though that especially in the beginning Brooke s...I though that especially in the beginning Brooke sounded a lot like General Smythe in The War Games. That growling was spot on and put me in the right mood. What do you think?

PS: Love your reviews and listen to every audio twice (once before and after I read your review).juliaL49http://49suns.denoreply@blogger.com
